JUMPING WITH A HOMEMADE PARACHUTE
Last April I sat down with a very good friend of mine who happens to be an executive coach and we hammered out the details of my future. Ok so by hammered out I basically scribbled on a piece of paper while she kicked my ass with facts and figures and ultimately proved to me that I was capable of “going it alone” as a full time photographer! The original end to my corporate life was scheduled for December 29, 2017 and I was set on that, it was going to happen, I was doing it… then I didn’t.
2017 proved to be a rather busy year personally with an unexpected mortgage (not complaining, home ownership is amazing), weddings, a department shuffle in my office and a new career for my husband. But those are really excuses and it probably comes down to me being afraid to jump because all I had was a homemade parachute constructed while watching a How To video!
So after a much needed vacation in Scotland where the Highland air seemed to aid in my courage I decided that once I was back in the office I would hand over my resignation. This plan played out perfectly unlike the one drafted nearly a year earlier!
Since I made my intentions known to my nearest and dearest I have been on quite the journey! There have been more “What the F have I done!” moments than I care to admit and moments of sheer bliss at the thought of not having to take the train to Toronto everyday. But I mostly feel at peace with my decision. I feel it is at this time I should apologize to my fans who look forward to my almost daily rants about various commuter woes! Never fear, I am still me and people are still very much people!
Today is my public announcement day! Today I say to the world that I’ve decided to throw open the plane door, homemade parachute be damned and leaping into the unknown!
